The simple answer is that at first blush, BBL and IPL are the same thing. They are both light technologies that address things like rosacea, age spots, and sun damage, and neither of them have much downtime at all. So, although on the surface level they do seem pretty similar there are just a few important differences we want to share with you.

BBL v IPL: It’s About Branding
BBL (Broad-Band Light) is the branded name of the Sciton device that uses photorejuvenation properties. 
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is the Cynosure branded version of photofacial treatments. 
(If you want to make it as confusing as humanly possible, OPL – for Optimized Pulsed Light – is the moniker given by laser-manufacturer Candela for their version of this treatment. Yup, we offer all three!)
